Since I like to go between individual and small group work to facilitate student learning and meeting their diverse needs, I will have desks in the classroom in one section. These desks are easily movable to form small groups and can then be moved back to rows to face the whiteboard and SmartBoard in the classroom. I will also provide beanbag chairs (multi-colored circles on map), a student group worktable, and an kidney shaped table for small group work with the teacher or student groups. Having multiple small group formation options in the room will provide options for students to choose their small group and individual workspace when directed. By providing two desktop computers for research, students will have easy access to the internet to perform quick searches. The class will also have access the mobile computer lab for specific lessons. This cart is shared between the classes in the elementary wing of the building. Shelving and storage will be used to store the classroom library, textbooks, and student supplies that do not fit in the desk storage. The teacher desk will be located in the back corner so that I am able to observe students from the back during assessments or teacher-student mini conferences while not being the focus of the classroom instruction.
