How I plan to teach procedures & rules in my classroomThe poster on the left side breaks down teaching rules and procedures into 3 steps:
For students to learn a new routine, rule, or procedure, they need to practice the new skill at least 8 times. If students need to break bad behaviors or learn a change in the routine, rule, or procedure; it will take the students at least 20 times to get back to neutral or unlearn the undesired habit, and another 8 times to create a new habit. This is why I will think through, explicitly explain, rehearse, and reinforce rules, routines, and procedures in my classroom. |
Instructional Videos
I will use videos to explain morning procedures. Using sites like Educreations, I can record an explicit explanation of the procedure and am able to utilize the video for reinforcing the procedure during the rehearsal and reinforcement phases of learning routines and procedures.

rule & Procedure posters
I will also utilize anchor charts or posters to reinforce the rules and procedures in my classroom. I will post these reminders on bulletin boards, on the wall close to where the procedure takes place, and remind students of the relevant poster as needed. Below are a couple examples of posters and anchor charts I would post in my classroom:
